Why Modern Artificial Turf Is a Legitimate Lawn Alternative in South Valley, NM
The artificial turf products available to South Valley, NM property owners in 2024 bear almost no resemblance to the plastic-looking, heat-absorbing carpet products that defined the category in earlier decades. Current-generation synthetic turf systems incorporate multi-blade fiber technology that replicates the varied texture and color variation of natural grass, crumb rubber and organic infill materials that reduce surface temperatures and provide a realistic feel underfoot, and drainage systems capable of handling rainfall rates exceeding 30 inches per hour without puddling. For property owners in South Valley, NM who face specific challenges including drought restrictions, heavy shade that prevents natural grass establishment, or high-traffic areas that natural turf cannot withstand, quality artificial turf installation provides a genuinely compelling solution.
Kelly Landscaping's artificial turf installation process in South Valley, NM begins with the same thorough sub-base preparation that underlies all of our hardscape and specialty installation work. We excavate the installation area, remove existing vegetation and topsoil, and install a compacted aggregate drainage base that prevents water from pooling beneath the turf surface. A weed barrier fabric is installed before the turf is placed to prevent organic growth from pushing through the backing over time. The turf itself is rolled out, cut to fit the installation area precisely, and seamed using specialized adhesive and joining tape that creates invisible transitions between turf rolls at the finished surface.
Infill selection is one of the most important decisions in any artificial turf installation and one of the areas where Kelly Landscaping's expertise provides significant value to South Valley, NM clients. We offer crumb rubber infill for maximum durability in high-traffic areas, silica sand infill for a firm playing surface appropriate for sports and recreation zones, and organic infill options using cork or coconut fiber for clients seeking the most environmentally neutral product available. For pet areas, we recommend a zeolite mineral infill component that neutralizes odors naturally and can be periodically refreshed to maintain effectiveness. Every infill selection is made in the context of the specific application, traffic type, and client priorities for the installation area.
